Features Of A Good Waterproof Jacket

Bad weather can creep up on anyone.  Even in the warmest areas, rain is prone to happen from time to time.  And when this happens, there is nothing worse then getting wet.  And sometimes simply having an umbrella does not cut it.  The wind and other elements combine to dampen all of your clothes.  Then you are stuck walking around the rest of the day uncomfortable.  In order to avoid this, it is wise to invest in a waterproof jacket.  You might not want to put on a raincoat.  However, a good waterproof jacket will ensure that you stay warm and dry.  Here are some features to look for in your jacket.

Fabric

The ideal factor for a waterproof jacket is the fabric.  It needs to be something that is not cotton.  Synthetic fabrics work better because the water does not adhere to them.  Instead it will simply roll off of the jacket making it “waterproof”.  Therefore, check the fabric.  Even test it if you want.  A lot of fabrics appear to be waterproof, however they are not in a major down pour.

Design

The design of waterproof jackets is also important.  It will allow individuals to breathe properly as they are moving about, however also keep them warm at the same time.  Also, does the jacket have storage to protect your items when it rains?  Can you store your phone and your keys?  If not than you might need to look for a different jacket.  Another critical feature that many people value in jackets is the hood.  Having a hood on the jacket allows them to cover their head when it rains.  This is a great feature if you are not one to keep an umbrella on handy.  And it also helps keep your ears warmer during the cold weather.

Lining

Depending on what you are using the jacket for, you will most likely want lining in the jacket.  You may simply want a small amount of lining, or perhaps a lot of lining.  Regardless, lining will allow you to stay warm and it will help enhance the waterproof features of the jacket.  Make sure that the jacket is well lined and that it is not going to fall out.

Construction

Lastly, find a waterproof jacket that has been well made.  Construction is important with any garment.  However, it is extremely important when it is taking abuse from the rain.
